Amplitube 4 and Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 (3rd gen)

Postby laurent.mesure » Fri Feb 21, 2020 5:25 pm

Hello,
I'm trying to use AmpliTube 4 with my newly bought Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 (3rd Gen).
I connect the focusrite on my computer with Windows 10 up to date.
Using Irig HD2 with Amplitube iwork fine using ASIO4All 2.14.

I connect my guitar in the Inst 1 input of focusrite.

In ASIO, IN and Out of focusrite is set, as well as the Realtek HDA Primary output.

I've tested in 44,1 k and 48k.

In Amplitube 4 i set up Audio/Midi with
Technology ASIO
Input device : ASIO4ALL v2
Left channel : fniusbwave_44 1
Right channel : fniusbwave_44 2

Output Device: ASIO4ALL v2
Left channel: HDA Primary output 1
Right channel: HDA Primary output 2

Unfortunatly, i have a latency (i don't jknow how much, but i think it is between 150 and 300ms).

I did try to setup ASIO buffer size but it doesn't have any effect.
I test: ASIO buffer size 64 up to 1024 with AUDIO MIDI Setup with 64 up to 1024.

I've tested Latency compensation of ASIO in and out from 0 to 384 samples without any effect either.

ASIO Allow PUll Mode (WaveRT) doesn't change anything.

Is there anything i can do to be able to limit the latency?

thank you.

Hi laurent.mesure and welcome to the forums.

I'm pretty sure that the 4i4 has its own drivers and control software that you need to install. If you log into your Focusrite account and register your 4i4, it will tell you what software you need to install to run the AI at its full potential.

Hope that helps.

Hi,
thanks for reply.
I've done the job, and installed the Focusrite Control Driver.
It was the first thing i've done.
But latency is high.

It could depend on which DAW you're using, and the more effects you have running while you're playing/recording can also cause more latency.

I'm not an expert but from what I've been told and experienced you could try recording in a different daw and importing your audio files to your preferred daw after, or you could try recording with a more basic clean tone and apply your amplitube settings in post.

If an expert is around to offer better advice I'd take their word for it over mine though.

Hi,
i've tested on Debian Linux. Besides the fact of not having the application interface, the inputs of the Scarlett works well, as well as the outputs. And there is not latency.
The computer used is the same with a Debian linux Buster up to date, under Gnome3.
Installed with Jackd and Guitarix, everything when well, with not noticeable latency.

Thus the problem is apparently around ASIO+AmpliTube (it is just a guess).

Purposedly, i wanted to use live Amplitube :)

I'll test with the application delivered with the Scarlett to see if there is any differences.

Thank you.

It shouldn't have to do with AmpliTube if iRig HD 2 and ASIO4ALL are working correctly (unless you mean a setting which yes it could be). I'd recommend working with IK Support directly for official assistance as I'm sure they can help you. They can be reached at http://www.ikmultimedia.com/contact-support

In which case, you need to make sure you have selected the Scarlett 4i4 in the Audio/MIDI setup, rather than ASIO4ALL.
