Platform conundrum

Greetings!
Currently using amplitube on ipad and I'm wondering if I might be better off on a laptop of some description.

I opted for tablets because of portability and ios over android because of the superior sound hardware in the apple products however the 'app' version is severely stripped down when compared to the full windows version lacking quite a few amps and options.

How much laptop would I need?
Would the laptop require specialised sound hardware or will the irig pull it's weight regarding latency and output quality?

A laptop would work great with most of our iRig devices. If you could clarify what iRig you own I can confirm if this will work on Mac/PC.

Below are the minimum requires for a Mac/PC system running AmpliTube 4. This should help you find a system which would work well here.

System Requirements

AmpliTube is a 64-bit application and requires a 64 bit CPU and Operating System.
Mac® (64-bits)

Minimal: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo, 2 GB of RAM (4 GB suggested), Mac OS X 10.7 or later.
Supported Plug-in formats (64-bit): Audio Units, VST 2, VST 3, AAX.
Windows® (64-bits)

Minimal: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo or AMD Athlon™ 64 X2, 2GB of RAM (4 GB suggested), Windows® 7, Windows® 8 or Windows® 10. Requires an ASIO compatible sound card.

Supported Plug-in formats (64-bit): VST 2, VST 3, AAX.

Internet connection is required as all of the Custom Shop operations are web based.

Just for reference ...

I use Amplitube 4 on a mid-2012 MacBook Pro (2.9 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB memory, macOS 10.13.6 High Sierra), as a plug-in in Ableton Live 10. At my usual settings (practice at home) Ableton Live reports an overall latency of 3.92 ms at a buffer size of 64 samples. (I'm currently using an RME Babyface Pro, but I think the latency was very similar with my MOTU Ultralite mk3.)

I could probably get the latency down a bit further. If I remember correctly, I've been able to get it below 3 ms without any noise. But, since I use this setup for performing live, I usually bump it back up a bit just to be on the safe side, which is why I'm at 3.92 ms now.

Also, in Ableton Live I use two instances of Amplitube 4 at the same time to separately process the bass and melody strings of my Chapman Stick, so I'm probably putting more load on my CPU than someone processing just one guitar at a time.

Will it run on an atom processor (with windows cheaper tablets) or does it have to be an i3/i5/i7 etc?

Maybe Ryan or Peter can help with this:
The minimum requirement lists very old cpus, and also Intel names conventions change all the time.
Maybe you can add some recommendation using a more comparable value like PassMark score ?

I see some SBC vendors start use this to indicate capabilities of system.
I'm sure any i3 system will work good, but I really would like to know if the cheaper windows tablets that come with Atom x5-Z8300, Atom x5-Z8350, and Pentium N5000,
will be able to work with AT4 without any frame/buffer drops.
Maybe you have some tests done with them ?

Personally, I do understand the need to keep costs down, but I would suggest looking for a processor which can meet all of your needs. This is a crucial part of your system and going with a lower end option may not provide you with the experience you are looking for.
