Recording while using the arpeggiator

Postby stacenator » Tue Mar 12, 2019 5:25 am

Hello everyone, quick question.
Does anyone know how to get the Reaper DAW to record SampleTank's arpeggiator?

While recording a sample using the arpeggiator feature within SampleTank 4, I only able to record the one midi note I'm hitting using the keyboard (while hearing the arpeggiator playing).

I have a PC, SampleTank 4, Reaper, M-Audio Keystation 61, and Tascam 4X4 interface.

Thanks in advance for any guidance provided!

First question: Does the ST4 Arpeggiator actually output real MIDI messages? (Syntronik doesn't, as far as I know.)

If so, then set the Reaper track to Record Output MIDI (right-click the RecArm button for the menu choices).

Thanks DarkStar for the tip!
I was able to record it as a wav file by setting the track to record output.
I believe this would be the only way to do it.

Yes, that makes sense - the Arpeggiator notes are not output as MIDI but, of course, you can record the Arpeggiator audio using one of the Record : Output choices.

If the one note is triggering the arpeggiator, then I'm not sure I see the issue with that same note being recorded. Playback will trigger that note and thus the arpeggiator. Are you expecting the track to record the actual arpeggiated notes as midi? That's not really how it works in this scenario.
