Can I just buy Amplitube Metal without having Amplitube 4?

I am truly sorry if this gets asked a lot, I had difficulty finding the same topic.

Can I just buy Amplitube Metal and use it with the FREE Amplitube that comes with the Custom Shop?

Or do I have to buy Amplitube 4 as the main software before I can add extra packs?

Yep, that's exactly how it works. The Custom Shop lets you buy as much or as little extra gear as you want and getting a whole specialised pack is no exception.

And, to add some further clarification: The AmpliTube Custom Shop download installs 3 separate programs:

AmpliTube 4, standalone program and plug-ins, with 24 pieces of gear (https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/amplitubecs/index.php?p=gear)
Custom Shop program, where you can Try or Buy additional gear models (or other products too),
Authorization Manager program, where you Authorize your IK Multimedia products (with some exceptions).
