Hello Corneliu and welcome to the forum.

No, the SampleTank 3 program is 64-bit, as are the SampleTank 3 plug-ins.

You might be able to use a software bridge, if your DAW host does not support 64-bit plug-ins.

Hi, I just bought Sampletank 3 SE version. I had Sampletank free going. My question is this: Do I uninstall Sampletank free from my computer now? I hope this does not sound ignorant.

Sorry to have missed this - all you need to do is authorize your SampleTank 3 SE serial number with Authorization Manager, download and install the sounds for SE from your User Area, and you are good to go!

Thanks for confirming, i thought i might have installed the x32, but obviously not. Have to get my mixes out

christopher.moyse wrote:"With SampleTank 3 SE, users get a taste of the 4,000 instruments available in the full version via a fully functional selection of 400 carefully selected, meticulously sampled instruments" it says above. The alternative product name, SampleTank 3 minus 3,600, was discarded after early marketing studies.

And that's it? The only difference is you get fewer sounds with SE?

And SE does allow importing of user sounds and sample libraries?

Sometimes the "official" jargon is tricky to interpret. If I have a library, how do I know if it's a "legacy Powered-by-SampleTank library?"

And why would it matter if I can import any library anyway?

Does anyone know if it works with a Dimension Pro library?

Thank you for your help.

Hello Columbian and welcome to the forum.

Yes, that's correct.

Columbian wrote:And SE does allow importing of user sounds and sample libraries?

Yes for user sounds. No for user sample libraries.

Columbian wrote:Sometimes the "official" jargon is tricky to interpret. If I have a library, how do I know if it's a "legacy Powered-by-SampleTank library?"

"legacy Powered-by-SampleTank library" means SampleTank 2.5, Sonik Synth 2, Miroslav Philharmonik, Expansion Tanks etc

Columbian wrote:And why would it matter if I can import any library anyway?

ST3 cannot Import any library, only those that are compatible, as above

Columbian wrote:Does anyone know if it works with a Dimension Pro library?

No, it does not.

Dark Star:

Thank you for the detailed answers. I'm quite new to IK and SampleTank, and I have to pedal as fast as I can to get up to speed.

I'd like to ask for clarification on one point. About the "legacy Powered-by-SampleTank library" question: It's the "powered by" that I don't get. Does this mean a library built in SampleTank? or sold by IKmultimedia? or something using a specific file-type, or having some other quality?

For example, I have some old AKAI libraries, and I think I read something that said these can be imported. Is that right?

If I have an incompatible library, can I import the samples individually?

And I can import individual .wav, .aiff, and .mp3 samples, yes?

Is there a list somewhere of the compatible libraries?

Oof. Sorry for all the questions, but I hope you can answer them?

Overall, SE for 99 bucks seems like a pretty good deal, though.

It just means a sounds library that can be loaded by software using the generic SampleTank 2 code.

Columbian wrote:For example, I have some old AKAI libraries, and I think I read something that said these can be imported. Is that right?
ST2 can import Akai S1000-3000 or SampleCell sample formats; I do not know how well it works; I do not think that ST3 can.

Columbian wrote:If I have an incompatible library, can I import the samples individually?
Yes, but the functionality is basic: you will need to name each sample with its root name (the name has to be in a specific format), I cannot remember how the samples are mapped to cover notes which do not have their own samples, there are no velocity layers, and there is no post-import zone editing.

Columbian wrote:And I can import individual .wav, .aiff, and .mp3 samples, yes?
AIFF and WAV only. Not MP3

Columbian wrote:Is there a list somewhere of the compatible libraries?
No. But these are compatible (there may be others)
IK Multimedia's SampleTank 2.5
IK Multimedia's Sonik Synth 2
IK Multimedia's Miroslav Philharmonik
IK Multimedia's SampleTron
IK Multimedia's SampleMoog
IK Multimedia's Xpansion Tanks http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/xpansiontank/ and you get SampleTank 2.5 XT with any of them)

Sonic Reality's SampleTank and ReTank Expansions https://www.esoundz.com/landingpages/sampletank.php

Thanks again, Dark Star.

That's a little disappointing, but maybe not terminal.

ST looks like an excellent piece o' software, but I'm going to have to exercise due diligence to be sure it will address what I'm looking to do.

As ever.

I downloaded Sampletank 3 SE and installed. I have no sounds in my library. What did I miss in the download? Also I can't see it in Pro Tools 9. Thanks in advance for any help.

Did you download, unzip(?) and install all the sounds library files?

And in the ST3 SE Settings, point to the folder where you installed them?

ST3 SE is 64-bit plug-in and standalone only, in Audio Units, VST 2, VST 3, AAX formats. Does Pro Tools 9 support that?

I'll double check the library files. Pro tools 9 is running EZ Drummer and keys and they are AAx files. Thanks for your help
