Discontinued ST libraries?

Postby xtdmusic » Tue Jul 01, 2025 3:37 pm

Hi

I noticed there is an update for SampleTank 4 and in changelog I see:
"Removed discontinued SampleTank libraries from default browser view"
It sounds a little bit scarry.
Is it means that I'll not be able to browse some libraries anymore?
What about backward compatibility (projects)?

Someone says that Miroslav Philharmonik was one of these discontinued libraries. I prefer to use ST than Miroslav itself.

And what about multi saves that is broken in current version? Is it fixed (that "General reliability improvements")?

About bug - I reported it over 40 days ago and get no answer so far.

And about "removed discontinued SampleTank libraries from default browser view" - it's in official changelog, I just want to know if it can affect current projects or browsing library in ST including Miroslav.

Thank You, I'll try to reply to the ticket about that bug.

But question about discontinued libraries is not user specific question and as I see more people asking about it. Basically - I am just afraid that after update I may lost something. Clarifying this on forum can reassure users that nothing will happen (or warn them).

Like I said elsewhere you shouldn't lose anything you already bought but IK Support can confirm if this is the case.

Peter, I checked the "compare versions" PDF you recommended we look at in the locked thread and the PDF is 219 pages.

Can't you just post a simple list of what was removed?

I don't have that information nor have been given any "official response" other than what is on our web site, nor access to your accounts to state whether you may or may not have issues in the future, which is why I referred you to IK Support.

We've already mentioned that SampleTron 2 and Syntronik 2 were discontinued a while back, so those definitely.

Ok, but since SampleTank is one, not different builds for every user, then it doesn't reallly matter what users have. If I have only "Bionic Drums" and nothing else (for example) and there would be information that "Fractured Piano" will be removed and projects contains this library will no longer works after update, it will not affect me, but will be useful for others. And there would be no need to respond to multiple emails because such information would be public.

But I understand answer "I don't know", that's fair. So I'll wait for answer for my ticket then to get more info.

You shouldn't lose anything you already have. Note that the bundles are new products (like SampleTank 4 MAX vs SampleTank 4 MAX v2) which allows the system to know what you have and what is included in the bundle you purchased.

Thank You. I suspected that users do not lost anything, but that "removed discontinued SampleTank libraries from default browser view" in changelog is very confusing. Usually I update every software immediately - this information tells me to not do that until I'll be sure.
What "default browser view" actually means? How different I could load presets other than using browser? And there is only one browser view.

That is the full view when you open the free version or a version that does not have all of the libraries. It basically shows what is available for purchase to those that don't have those libraries which wouldn't apply any more.
