Stomp IO Random Noise

Postby Pkkrup » Mon Jun 02, 2025 6:29 pm

I've had this unit for a while with no issues, running on both Mac and PC over the years. I just bought a new PC running Windows 11. Updated all firmware and drivers, including ASIO4all, and then started getting random noise that sounds like hissing and digital feedback. It happens when there is a guitar input, both playing and not playing. It happens when there is no input plugged in at all. I've replaced all cables, including from the Stomp to the PC, still get the noise. Updated the drivers for my sound card in the PC as well. I'm starting to think the Stomp is bad, but it functioned well right up to when I started with the new PC. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

It sounds like you've done a thorough job troubleshooting — and since your Stomp (likely HX Stomp) worked perfectly before, this points to something specific in the new PC environment rather than a hardware failure. Try using a different USB port (preferably a USB 2.0 port if available, even if your device supports USB 3.0).

If you're using a desktop, check if the PC is introducing a ground loop — this often causes hissing or digital whine (especially when moving the mouse or using certain inputs).

Thanks for the input lepepowerful, I've been in contact with the support team and I believe the solution is heading in the direction you speak of. If none of your suggestions work, do you know of any others, maybe a filter of some type that would clean up the signal?
