Tonex Routing option

Postby dnr » Wed Mar 22, 2023 6:13 pm

I have been using the Tonex Pedal with my small pedalboard. Now I want to record using the Tonex Pedal together with My Keely two Knob Compressor and My Wampler Tumnus pedal in front. I will record straight from the pedal as I prefer the sound to Tonex in AmpliTube. However I wanted to use the stereo left out to to feed with a delay and reverb to my mixer and the right out to my DAW to record without the delay and reverb.

Is this Possible? If so how do I do it and is it possible to have dual mono out? If not, why not?

You might want to try this, but note this is over the USB connection not from the analog outputs of the pedal so I'm not sure if this is 100% your solution but worth looking into. From the TONEX Pedal User Manual Setup --> Globals Setup section:

USB OUT – USB output routing: sets the USB OUT routing.
∙ STEREO: the stereo processed signal is routed to USB OUT 1 and 2.
∙ DUAL: the left processed signal is routed to USB OUT 1, the DI dry signal is routed to USB OUT 2

Thanks Peter. I want to be using my RME Fireface UC as I just cannot get the driver for the Tonex Pedal to work. I will give it another go tonight.

Edit:

Unfortunately as I run Cubase in 32 bit Float the Tonex Driver does not work. Surely the Tonex Pedal stereo outputs work with a mono input If not why is this? Can I request That IK considers a Firmware update that allows a stereo out and a dual mono out to allow for more flexible routings. A great pedal could be a lot greater!!

Can I also please request this. The ability to run dual mono will allow me to monitor my signal by either my FRFR (left output on TONEX) or my DAW monitors (right output on TONEX) without having the keep switching between live and interface mode (via TONEX editor). I could just mute the monitor I wasn’t using. It also means I wouldn’t have to unplug the mono left cable from my FRFR into my DAW each time.

Something weird happens why I try to monitor via the TOMEX USB connection alone (the gain level really drops so I would have to keep adjusting I input/output levels every time I switched what I was monitoring with.

I might be able to use a mono to dual mono splitter from the left mono output of the TONEX but it seems a bit unnecessary.

Many thanks,
Danni.

I have worked out a way to get the audio routing the way I want it. I have set the output. Ode to DUAL. Now I get two mono feeds. I use one to monitor via FRFR (left mono) and the other (right output) to one of my Scarlett DAW inputs. This means I can store everything on the TONEX pedal for live us or for monitoring at home e either through FRFR or studio monitors. I can also just record that input in Logic if I want to record.

Make sure the pedal is in live mode and you will get the effected signal on both left and right outputs.

I don’t have to change audio device from Scarlett to TOMEX which is another god send!

If I listen through monitors, I don’t turn the FRFR ON. If I want to listen through FRFR (also good test to hear your live sound), I mute the Scarlet input.

Cheers,
Danni.
