MODO Bass - Am I missing something?

Postby BobCoughlan » Thu Dec 26, 2024 6:56 pm

Just recently acquired MODO Bass 2 as part of MODO Max

When looking at the available patterns, it seems to me that they are very limited.

An example - with Blues / Verse selected, there are seven patterns in total, but as soon as I select certain keys, in fact most of the keys, all of the available patterns vanish.

I haven't figured out an efficient way to count all of the available patters, but is it possible I don't have all available patterns installed somehow?

Any advice would be appreciated

I have the exact same issue; I can't tell how many patterns there are, or find any reliable info on the IK website. Greyed out patterns simply say "unavailabe: upgrade to access" but there's no info on how any upgrade is linked to the provision of more patterns or how many. IK's 'modo bass' version comparison table simply tells you which bass models are included, not if/how many patterns are excluded or included....

I did email IK, and I got a series of automated replies giving me info on 'tone models' rather than patterns. On the 4th reply a human did respond saying "The full version offers over a thousand patterns." Given that there are at least three versions of Modo Bass 2, I was still left wondering a. how many patterns the intermediate product has, and b. Exactly how many patterns the full product has. It seems this info is very hard to get, even with a direct ask. Here is my subsequent and final query to them which, 7 days on, is yet to be answered: "Hi, does the SE variant have 1000+ patterns or does only the highest tier product have 1000+ patterns?

Secondly, can you just confirm whether I'm broadly correct that the 1000 patterns, when divided into the 13 genres, 16 keys and 5 signatures will give approximately one pattern available per sub category? (13/16/5)"

Sweetwater has a 75% off deal on the FULL variant at the moment, so I just went ahead and bought it anyway in the end and I can confirm that in some sub categories there are no patterns at all.

Good product, hopeless comms. I hope that's helpful.

UPDATE (same day!)

Discount is also available from IK. Sweetwater says "Sound library downloads are only available for 180 days after the initial authorization. After 180 days, you will need to directly purchase a Sounds Download Reactivation Credit from IK Multimedia to reaccess the downloads." Not sure if this refers to patterns or the bass guitars' actual 'voices'. Either way, when you click the link (17 May '25) there is no such thing as a Sounds Download Reactivation Credit. I've asked IK if this is a thing, and if this limitation would still apply if I had paid full price direct to IK Multimedia for Modo Bass 2 instead of buying it discounted via Sweetwater. I'll post their reply here.

There is no longer a 180 day download period. Who told you this from IK and/or where did you see it? I can have that updated/removed or the person told about a policy that ended ages ago.
