Jesus Stole My Girl - acoustic demo using TRackS 6

Postby mklankin@hotmail.com » Wed Sep 18, 2024 3:25 pm

Hi all,

Well, this track shoehorned itself into being while I was doing some post-cottage session work on a track from last month.

It came fast and furious and the recording is very basic…unfortunately just used DI for acoustic guitar and laid down some basic vox ideas. I heard the song in my head as being more of a SoCal track but…as often happens, ideas can morph into something else and now seems more folky to me. I had a version with some basic drums but, thanks to Riff’s input ;) , I’m presenting this as an acoustic offering.

This is around the time the new TRackS 6 came about and I thought some of the new plug-ins might be interesting to try out so this demo is limited to only using the following:
Channel Strip X
Pusher
Delay Lab
Dual Spring
Master Match X (used the folk setting)
*Remember the days when you HAD to make do with very limited gear!

Have a listen and any feedback appreciated as always. Hope you are all doing very well.
Michael

I agree, it has a kinda folky vibe to it and dare I say I hear some Dylan in there in spots?

Also, It's nice as it is, I agree with Riff, I wouldn't add drums either. ;)

Cool work dude.

Cheers, CS. :)

I forgot you write folk songs, this reminds me of a song I can't think of the name.

My fav of yours is still Lodestar which I play frequently. Now listening to Todo Lo Que Necesita Es and wow that instrumental break! Who wrote this song? And is that a kalimba or wood vibes in the song? I should have added that to my last song, especially when doing Latin feel. Dig your guitar playing and music composition skills.

Hey CS,

Thanks for the listen and f/b!

Dylan….kewl - my buddy, Paul, thot of Joni Mitchell…if the track lands anywhere near these it’s a win especially it coming across not as expected.

Take care my friend & hope all is going famously for you. :)

Hi mike_jf

Thanks…and lemme know if you ever remember the song you’re thinking of.

As far a “Todo”, the song is all mine. Good questions about the instruments used….after pulling up the project again, looks like I used:
Miroslav Philharmonik = Vibraphone Velo/Flute Sus as well as Marimba ST Hard
Clavitube (via ST4) = Clav E7 Vari-Tone Twin Amp Clean
….perhaps TMI but there it is.

Thanks for the f/b and delving into some of my other tracks! :D

Take care,
Michael

Hello everyone,
Michael and I exchanged some demos we're working on and as soon as I heard it I told myself I wouldn't change a thing, the thing is great in itself and the acoustic version is just right. It really stuck in my ear, and a few days later I caught myself humming the chorus of Jesus Stole.... :D

Hi Riff,

Again, thanks and I'm glad I bounced it off off of you first!

Take care, my friend!

Hi Michael,

Great track. I agree with everyone else - no drums are necessary on this (can't believe I just said that :D ). Agree with CS, sweet folk vibe on this. Glad you found time to share this with us. Once again people working together making things better.
