SAMPLETANK 4 Importing Samples Error?

My laptop is not happy running ST4 4.2.3 so I wanted to continue using ST4 4.0.9. But if I try to import samples in 4.0.9 selecting Pitch Track and Auto Fill I just find that the notes within the mapped sections all play the root note only with no transposition. What am I doing wrong? Unfortunately the imported samples I make in 4.2.3 on my MacStudio (which map and transpose correctly) will not play in 4.0.9. and for some reason my MacBook - even though it is 8 Core i9 - can not cope with 4.2.3 . . . Does anyone else get serious glitching in 4.2.3 on their MacBooks?
