Philharmonik 2 vs CE - what are the differences?

Postby glenatron » Sun Dec 30, 2018 11:59 pm

Is there a list of the differences between Philharmonik 2 and 2CE?

I know that the samples are higher resolution, but aside from that it would be really useful to get the lowdown on how the two diverge- 2 claims to offer about 2000 more samples, which I assume to be more varied articulations, but I can't seem to find a list anywhere or how it adds up.

I have found a few links from other forums, but the linked pages no longer seem to exist.

Seems MP2 CE has voices and MP2 doesn't. And Concert harp vice versa.

Looks like an error on the MP2 sounds page; At the top: (my emphasis):

Miroslav Philharmonik 2 contains the following instruments:

868 Strings
349 Brass
393 Woodwinds
119 Choirs

774 Percussion
96 Chromatic Instruments
8 Grand Pianos
48 Other Classical Instruments

As you have MP2 your should see those 119 choir instruments.

And
Miroslav Philharmonik 2 CE contains the following instruments:

211 Strings
162 Brass
231 Woodwinds
55 Orchestral Sections
25 Choirs

4 Grand Pianos
3 Chromatic Instruments
22 Percussion Instruments
20 Other Classical Instruments

As done for the other samplers, a complete comparison PDF on the web site would help a lot.

There is one other difference:
While the CE version has 16-bit / 44.1kHz samples
Miroslav Philharmonik 2 has 24-bit / 96kHz samples

For most the 16-bit should be sufficient and it is much easier for the CPU/ memory load for smaller computers.

If you'd want to do heavy processing the 24-bit might be better.
