Installing SampleTank 3 on new Mac m1

Postby pauln » Mon Nov 01, 2021 4:05 pm

[Mod: split from another thread for focus and clarity.]

I am also installing ST 3 and 4 from scratch because I got a new Mac m1. ST 4 went in fine, but ST 3 I keep getting an error when trying to install. I get "This package is incompatible with they version of Mac OS . Contact the software manufacturer for assistance. "

I was able to drag and drop the ST 3 instruments from a backup, but I still need to install ST 3 and authorize it. Any ideas?

As a workaround you could use the ST3 sounds in ST4 (even the free ST4 Custom Shop). But that will not help your existing projects.

As this is primarily a user to user forum, someone-else may chip in. But please remember that the same symptoms do not necessarily mean the same problem.

Meanwhile, the best thing to do is Search the FAQs first, via here. If they do not resolve the issue, there is a red button link to the Technical Support form, for some one to one investigation and help. Response time aims to be within 2 working days (US (East Coast) Business hours, generally), but in the current circumstances please allow some more time.

And, to help others who run into a similar problem, please let us know what you did to resolve the problem. Please do not quote directly any correspondence from Support, as that may apply only to your particular circumstances and may lead others down the wrong track.

Thanks so much. Yes I was able to access ST 3 instruments in 4, I didn't know I had to just load them in the ST 4 interface to do that. That should help me for a while. Thank you!

Are there any plans to make ST3 compatible with M1 MacBooks? For people using legacy instruments like SampleTank 2 there is currently no way to use them on Macs, as ST3 is needed to import them for ST4 use.

SampleTank 3 is not a current version thus isn't going to be made M1 native. But I'm sure IK Support can go deeper about any possibilities/methods of getting any legacy sounds into a modern system.
