Real Time Record/Sequencer

I'm able to do Step entry into sequencer but Real Time Record does not work. Record button lights, the steps move when Play is engaged -- it looks like it's recording. then I play back, and nada. is there perhaps a step to this that got skipped over in the manual?

i found out the hardway. You have to press the record and the play at the same time and you will hear the metronome ( unfortunately no way to shut it off but it can be lowered) and then you can real time record. You can't if you don't hit together. Even if you started and then stopped the recording and want to overdub you can but you have to hit the two buttons at the same time and hear the metronome Without hearing the metronome it will not record...
