AmpliTube5: Solutions to slow loading times?

Postby kezzamachine » Fri Jan 15, 2021 11:13 pm

Yo. I am a huge AT5 fan and feel like crying tears of joy every time I open it... buuuuut, I do find the fact that when I load a preset, it takes ages. I was just wondering if anyone had found any solutions to this or had any advice about what to maximise.

I'm running an HP Elitebook i5-8250U CPU, 8GB RAM, 64-bit with Windows 10 Education edition, 237GB hardrive with 57GB of that free. I like long walks on the beach.

My gut instinct is that the now giga impulses being loaded simply takes time.

However, there was someone, somewhere around here that had some tips that made it better.

In this "now" world it is kinda annoying (it's not hopeless here, windows 10, older 4770k processor. )

I am running it on a system with 32gm ram and SSD and it loads slow. i think its as per what previous poster stated. its a large application than AT 4.

hoping IKM make some updates to optimize loading times.

Just a guess - is your AntiVirus scanning AT5 each time it is loaded?

Strange. I just upgraded to Studio One 5.1 and my template with AT5 loaded up much faster. How odd.

Oh for crying out loud, now it loads up faster in version 4 of Studio one.

Man, I can't keep up. There has to be a logical reason, but who knows what it is.

I know, it's late and I've.........tipped a couple but now Reaper and FL studio are loading faster.............

Sigh. It just doesn't make any sense because it was loading slow and I KNOW that others are not just reporting this randomly.

So I'm bumping this. It goes back and fourth. 5.0.2 says that it's made it faster and although I haven't done extensive testing it seems to be a little better.

Mostly it's been once you load an instance, subsequent instances (in a current session or another session) loads much faster. That may have been why I was experiencing faster load times with 5.0.1 back in the day.

Anyways, will be curious to know if people are now experiencing faster times straight away with 5.0.2.

That sounds like a disk i/o bottleneck. Once an instance is loaded from disk, when you load a second instance the code may well still be in memory and loaded from there, rather than from the disk.

And AT5 is pretty big ;)

Way to slow, I load it as a stand alone first, then close and then go back to reaper and load it, it loads a little faster, but really that is not good.

Great version, terrible loading times I have a quad core processor and 32gb of ram.

Loads pretty quickly here on both my i7 with 16GB RAM and my dual Xeon with 96GB RAM. I'd take a look at DarkStar's point above and if you feel you are having an issue the IK Support team would happily take a look at it with you.

The only good amp simulators are ALL too slow. Some crappy ones I have are really fast

As far as what Darkstar said, I wouldn't know what is meant if it was a snake biting me in the butt.
