I'm on Windows 10 for what it's worth. Reproduction steps:
1) Have Amplitube 5 on an audio channel.
2) Duplicate the audio channel.
3) crash
This happens almost every time I try it...

I've tried to reproduce the problem, but it works fine here.
When you say crash you mean Ableton quits, or it remains with the spinning blue circle forever?
With some processes in Ableton I just got used to wait, and wait, and wait... and in the end it does what it's supposed to do. Instead of clicking and getting the white screen and the prompt to either wait or close the program.

Yea it's the spinning blue circle and the whole program becomes frozen, I've let it set for 5minutes one time and it still didn't come back to life.

Yes I reckon 5 minutes is a bit excessive. The longest I've waited is 4 minutes and that felt like forever.
Have you tried sending a crash report to Ableton? They can pinpoint quite easily what's causing the crash.
I hope you find a solution because they're both excellent programs.

I've sent multiple crash reports to Ableton. Hoping this can get fixed, because it's a real mood-killer when trying to jam with multiple layers.

After talking to both Ableton and IK, the solution was waiting for an AT5 update.
