AT4 --> AT5 preset migration

Postby dmitch » Wed Dec 16, 2020 6:44 pm

I have AT4 Max and I've pre-ordered AT5; I am preparing to install AT5. I understand that AT4 will continue to work as-is after I install AT5, which is a really nice feature. I have some active projects that use AT4, and I don't want to disturb the workflow there. I'm assuming that those AT4-based projects will not be affected at all if I install AT5....right?

I wonder if someone can shed some light on the process of migrating user presets from AT4 to AT5. Will all the AT4 presets I've created be visible and usable in AT5? Will I have to do any kind of "import old presets" step? And...is there a backwards compatibility path? I.e. when I start tinkering around with AT5 and generate some new presets there, will I be able to use those presets on AT4 (assuming all the relevant gear is present in both versions)?

Thanks in advance. Looking forward to some serious playing and tinkering time.

You need to copy your presets over. This is covered in more detail in section 7.3 of the AmpliTube 5 User Manual.

Where is the user manual, by the way? I haven't found it on my hard drive or in my user area yet (though I am probably so far simply looking in the wrong places!). :oops:

I followed the directions on my MacBook Pro and I could not find the manual in any of the AT5 folders.

Remember that the "Mac HD -> Library" folder is often hidden by default on Macs, so you may need to reconfigure so it is visible, but you can also Google info on how to navigate to it even if it isn't visible. (Also, don't confuse it with your "[username] -> Library" folder! I did that, at first! :oops: )

On a Mac, at least, the relevant files are named "AmpliTube 5 User Manual.pdf" and "AmpliTube 5 Custom Shop Gear Models.pdf" (probably the same on Windows?).

It took me some scrounging around and tips from people here to find them :oops: but I did find them! :mrgreen:
