Missing libraries in Miroslav Philharmonic 2

Postby 4museman » Sat Oct 31, 2020 1:02 pm

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to demo "Miroslav Philharmonic 2" before purchase so I clicked the "Try" button in PRODUCT MANAGER and went through the installation process without changing any default setting. Then I also installed "SampleTank 4 SC" in the "Sounds" category.

But I still cannot see any instrument in "Miroslav Philharmonic 2". Not in any of my main DAWs (Reason and Reaper) and not even in standalone version:

Am I missing something?

Of course I did some search for answers here, but I haven't found anything working for my case. I also tried to redirect the "Disk Path" to SampleTank 4, but the same result.

Anyone, who had the same situation and solved it?

I'm on Mac, Mojave 10.14.6.

Miroslav Philharmonik 2 ("MP2") can only load its own instruments.

I do not know the details of the MP2 Demo - maybe the installer includes a sounds installer too? Or, is there an entry in the Product Manager / Sounds for Philharmonk?

The MP2 Disk path should point at the main folder into which the MP2 sounds are installed. Generally this is a "SampleTank 3" folder, as the MP2 instruments can be loaded into SampleTank 3. https://www.ikmultimedia.com/faq/index.php?id=1135

For the folder hierarchy, have a look at this FAQ https://www.ikmultimedia.com/faq/index.php?id=1239

Thank you, DarkStar, for very swift reply!

It is confusing that MP2 is based on "SampleTank 3", but there's no "SampleTank 3 Custom Shop" in "User Area > My Products" as stated in https://www.ikmultimedia.com/faq/index.php?id=1135. There's "SampleTank 4 CS" only.

Also it is rather confusing, that there are several separate "[PRODUCTNAME] Custom Shop" applications (which are in fact an instruments) with different options, but many overlaps.

I realized after your post, that there is also a standalone application called just "Custom Shop". When I launched it, logged in and clicked the "SampleTank" category, I got red alert style notification, that I don't have "SampleTank Custom Shop 3.7.3" installed. It looked like it is an important issue, so I did installed it and it turned out, that what I installed is in fact a demo version of an older instrument. And most importantly it didn't solved my issue with MP2.

So I still don't know & I'm trying to figure it out...

OK.

Yes, that FAQ does refer to "SampleTank 3 Custom Shop" - it was written before ST4 existed, I guess. I do not think that you need ST3.7.3 installed; I pointed to that FAQ in case you wanted some info about the directory structures. Sorry for the confusion

It is a demo version as it has not yet been authorised. Did you see a Serial number anywhere?. If not you could contact Support and request one for "SampleTank 3 Custom Shop".

-- did the ST3 CS install install any sounds?
-- if so, what is the path name to them?

Now back to Philharmonik
-- did you find any sounds installer to the MP2 demo?
-- maybe Search your disks for folders that have "Miroslav" or "Philharmonik" in the name?

So it seems like ST3 installed "Grand Piano 1 SE" only:
Code: Select all
/Users/Shared/IK Multimedia/SampleTank 3/Instruments/100__SampleTank 3 Free/07__Piano

Then There's "Syntronik Free" package?
Code: Select all
/Users/Shared/IK Multimedia/SampleTank 3/Instruments/52__Syntronik Free/Factory

Except that, there's nothing else in ST3 Instruments folder.

Regarding MP2 installation - it is only one installation file Install Miroslav Philharmonik 2 (Ver. 2.0.6).pkg and it says that it will install 212,2 MB on my disk. I didn't find all that data using search though. The executable in "Applications" folder has 9,3 MB and "Philharmonik 2" folder in "Documents/IK Multimedia" location contains 4 database files of only 20 KB in total. So I still didn't find all the other data...

OK, those two paths look OK to me.

For ST3, there may be some additional download files for other instruments. Was there anything-else on the ST3 download page?

As for MP2, that seems to suggest the something is missing. Run the installer again closely checking each step and the values selected. You may see the stage where the sounds (if included) are installed. If you can't see any error then cancel it before confirming the re-install.

Or, is there an entry for MP2 is the IK Product Manager / Sounds section?

It seems like the "Custom Shop" application is only some kind of hook for installing "SampleTank 3", because now it says "SampleTank 3 Custom Shop" in the Help page title of the "Custom Shop" application. There's no apparent other instrument or sound installer available without registered license. Anyway, I'm not much interested in that right now. :|

I tried to reinstall MP2 several times already, with uninstalling it in between as well as without it. No change.

The MP2 installer goes in 6 steps, where in step 3 (Destination Select) you can change the destination, which means different HDD:
Image

And there is a summary in the next step (Installation Type) with possibility to change location again:
Image

And now, oddly enough, when I cancelled the installation and run it again, it always skipped step 3 (Destination Select) and in step 4 (Installation Type) there's no the "Change Install Location..." button as it was before:
Image

I'm a bit intrigued! :o

By the way, I'm very grateful you're trying to help me! It's amazing and I appreciate that greatly! Thank you! ;)

You're welcome - but I've not been much help yet ;) And I'm wary that I might just be complicating things. And I've never used a MAC or installed the MP2 demo. ;)

Apart from that ... I would leave the location of the software installation set at the default.

But what is that other disk, with the warning triangle on it? ANd what does the warninig mean?

As you said, it says 212 MB should be needed. As well as the .exe there some additional files. For example, Syntronik on Windows has these files:
Image
The big .pak file is used by the .exe and the plug-in.

Can you double-check: is there any entry for MP2 is the IK Product Manager / Sounds section?

Yes, I didn't change any default location during the installation.

I have only one HDD in my computer, which is called "Macintosh HD". The other one with the exclamation mark is an opened Miroslav Philharmony 2 installer. It opens as a virtual drive on Mac, it is very usual with installers. Then there you can launch your installation:
Image

All the ".pak" files within "SampleTank 3" folder are:
Image

And also I don't see any additional download entry for sounds in "Product Manager":
Image
Image

So it looks like the installer of "Miroslav Philharmony 2" doesn't install any sounds in "SampleTank 3" for a reason. :?

The first screenshot ishow the sample files in the ST3 sounds library folder. Mine was of the files in the Program Files folder, to show that the .exe is small but the .pak file there is much bigger. I expect the MP2 will be the same.

As for the MP2 Sounds, I'm officially stumped.

Time for Technical Support. As this is primarily a user to user forum, someone-else may chime in [#]. Meanwhile, the best thing to do is check the FAQs, via here. If they do not resolve the issue, there is a link at the top to the Technical Support form, for some one to one investigation and help. Response time is usually within 2 working days (US (East Coast) Business hours, generally), but in the current circumstances please allow some more time.

[#] But please remember that the same symptoms do not necessarily mean the same problem.

And, to help others who run into a similar problem, please let us know what you did to resolve the problem, but without directly quoting any correspondence from Support.

Thank you, DarkStar, so much for your willingness to help!

As for the file structure of the installation it differs quite a bit from Windows on Mac. I really didn't find any package, that could contain the sound files of MP2 after my installation.

I'll contact the tech support and then report the solution here. ;)

Thanks again and have a nice weekend!

Well, did you install all the library downloads? They are separate downloads. If they are not in the IK Product Manager ("IKPM"), have a look in your USer Area / My Products section.

Have you Authorized MP2?

Have you pointed MP2 (in its Preferences) at the main library folder (probably named "SampleTank 3", it contains the Instruments and Samples folders among other things)?

Hello guys, I just received a second answer from the IK Tech support team yesterday - in first one it looked like they didn't read my question properly. The message basically was, that they'll forward my concerns to their team.

So, that is all I got, I'm sorry!

But I bought the MP2 anyway and after purchase the sound bank download became available. And luckily for me - all is working on my machine.

Greetings and good luck!

PROBLEM SOLVED.... FOR ME.....
CHECK YOUR ADMINISTRATOR PRIVILEGES ON YOUR COMPUTER!!! WINDOWS!!!

Like so many others I have been struggling to get Miroslav player to see files for 8 months. I would tinker with it for a few hours, go to some forums, nothing worked or something would almost work and I would get frustrated and let it be for a month then try again.

I submitted a support request a few weeks ago, no reply yet. I understand, covid issues short staff whatever the case may be. I was getting error messages trying to unzip the 1st pak of sound files "File Path Too Long"... I tried installing the ones I could unzip, it would go through the process, error message..."Unable to create folder"...put them in Cdrive/Users/My name/Documents/ Ik Multi.../sample tank 3/instruments/samples. Then Cdrive/program files/IK Multi.... you get the idea.

Reinstall Miroslav, update to sample tank 4, re-download soundfiles...everything I could think of. I AM A MUSICIAN NOT AN IT TECH!!!! Finally I asked my son THE IT TECH to help me figure it out. He found that if he right clicked on soundfile and installed as administrator it worked and now all is working! COME ON! It never said WHY it couldn't do it just that it couldn't.
