AXE I/O to Pro Tools latency

Postby rlacombe » Mon Oct 19, 2020 12:02 pm

I wonder if anyone could advise if I am doing something wrong here.
I normally have been using a Focusrite 18i20 into Pro Tools and have no latency issues.
I recently got an AXE I/O and while I am super impressed with the unit I do seem to have a latency issue running into Pro Tools.

The interface is recognised with no issue and all working OK.
When I add a guitar plugin like AmpliTube Satriani, or Helix Native, I need to switch the Monitor dial all the way to DAW to hear it (as Direct is giving me the clean tone of the guitar straight in).
When I do I am getting just a touch too much latency, enough that it is offputting, esepcially on rhytmic playing.

I cannot find anywhere in the AXE I/O Control Panel to adjust latency settings.

I am running on a Windows 10 PC, with 64gb of RAM and an i7-8700K processer (3.70GHz) and have never had latency issues on other interfaces.

I feel I may be missing something obvious here?

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

You would need to set the buffer setting for AXE I/O lower, from what it looks like (though you did not post that setting). You should have the AXE I/O Control Panel to check this setting and other important settings for your AXE I/O audio interface.

Hi there.
The buffer size was originally greyed out (which is why i couldnt see anywhere to amend) so I uninstalled the software and added it again and it is now available!

Thanks for your reply.

Can you post a screenshot of your AXE I/O Control Panel showing the buffer size? I cannot see it mentioned in the User Manual here.
