Sample Tank 4 sound content [Resolved]

Hello, I'm having trouble with getting some sounds added through "sound content" I can't seem to get my sample moog, sample tron ect. to load in the data base.

Have you previously imported these into the SampleTank 3 format? Without doing that, ST4 can't use them.

Just to check: you did add the ST3 main library folder (the folder containing "instruments", "Samples", "Imported instruments", "Imported Samples", etc) to the ST4 paths list?

Darkstar, Nope, don't know what or where that is. Did I miss that in the ST4 User manual?

I have several locations of that folder What one is the "Main" one?

Looks like it'll be the ones in your Public Documents folder.

I'm guessing that under Settings>Sound Content in ST4, the pathway shown (if your ST4 instruments are loading fine is):
C:/Users/Public/Public Documents/IK Multimedia/SampleTank 4

If that's the case then you need to Add another pathway in Settings>Sound Content to show:
C:/Users/Public/Public Documents/IK Multimedia/SampleTank 3

You may need to get ST4 to scan again to rebuild the database but it may do it automatically. Once this is done you should now see all your ST3 content and any older instruments that were imported into ST3 as well.

I just figured out the files from imported sounds is categorized with no way to identify what instrument they are connected to. Like this post of Miroslav Philharmonik sounds. All the other instruments like Sample Moog, Sample Tron, Sonik Synth imported ...the same. Not usable as any real sound search in ST4. Not like ST3

If you click on the "ST3 Imported" icon in the Library column and then click the folder icon next to where it says Library, you'll find the old instruments are displayed in their original format.

Wow..learning curve here for me. I didn't even see that "folder icon" before. The ST4 interface is so dark!

You're welcome. I'm glad that you've got it sorted out.

And yes, the ST4 interface is far too dark. Actually that's not quite correct, it's the lack of contrast between the controls and the background. Many users have commented on this and there are posts on the wish-list.

But the folder view has a big problem. Here, listing the Imported SampleTank 3 instruments (about 33,000 instruments) it takes 40-50 seconds EACH TIME the library is selected. It looks like the whole folder hierarchy is rebuilt (and not saved) each time. (Yes it is on the wish-list too.)

Is it necessary install Sample Tank Custom Shop if you already own Sample Tank 4? Are the sounds from ST CS all included in ST 4?

There is no need to install the CS version of ST4. However, these are new sounds and are available as a separate download and can be opened if you have the latest version of ST4 installed (v4.1.0).

And those sounds are really good. Over 4GB of free sounds that are really well done. I have to say my colleagues are really pushing SampleTank 4's updated engine to new heights more and more every day. With the Editor added for everybody with SampleTank 4, SE, or MAX, I think there will be some more really great new content coming too.
