Apple Releases macOS 11 Big Sur

Our recommendation for IK software and hardware users

Apple is releasing their new operating system macOS 11 (Big Sur) this month on November 12th.

To ensure that your IK Multimedia software and hardware products work as intended, we strongly recommend waiting to update until we have confirmed compatibility.

Preliminary tests using the macOS 11 (Big Sur) beta, suggest you may encounter compatibility issues, which are being validated with the official release of Big Sur now. For more specific information, please check back here if you have any concerns with your IK Multimedia products. We will continue to post any compatibility issues - and planned fixes if required - here and will update the IK FAQ as appropriate.

Please be aware that your Mac may try to update itself automatically. To prevent this, please uncheck the "Install macOS updates" option located in your System Preferences > Software Update > "Advanced...".

Thank you for your patience.

Your IK Multimedia Team.

I'm using Amplitube 4 on Big Sure mac OS. (Mini Mac late 2014).

The only problem so far that I found is
I keep getting an "Error creating SSL context ()"
when I try to access the Custom Shop store.

Anyone out there solved that issue?

Cheers,

JC

There is no solution to that issue at this time which is part of the reason why we do not recommend updating.

You can install/update/authorize with IK Product Manager but you will not have a way to use Custom Shop on Big Sur right now.

That is an issue on Big Sur only and part of the reason the statement above requests that you do not update.

ETA on an update?

I recently bought a Stomp I/O and was already updated to Big Sur. Garage band did not work with the old version and downgrading is... difficult with Apple.

You may want to contact IK Support as any official update will be posted on the IK site but will be more general. Please let them know what's not working so they are aware of your situation via http://www.ikmultimedia.com/contact-support

Yes, both AmpliTube 5 and the new Custom Shop are being tested in Big Sur.

Is anybody having trouble using the Amplitube 4 plugin in Logic Pro X 10.6. on Big Sur? Is this a known compatibility issue?

We are not recommending any update to Big Sur at this time. However, you will likely experience most issues with Custom Shop so if your AmpliTube 4 issue is related to the Custom Shop application then that is a known issue.
