Official MODO DRUM Wish List!

Discussions about MODO DRUM physically modeled drums and MODO BASS - the first physically modeled electric bass virtual instrument

I'd like a mapping capability to use MODO drum as instrument instead of another drum plugin like EZ Drummer 2 from Tune Track. It would be nice to create a song with EZ Drummer 2 (because it is much easier to do so than with MODO Drum because you can't really build the entire song's parts and tweak each little segment as you can with EZ Drummer 2).

I'd vote to add more functionality on creating and tweaking the parts, intro, verse, fills. You guys really need more fills or perhaps better instructions on tweaking the generated parts from the groove area. I'm not a drummer, so I can't really appreciate all of the nuances you give drummers to dial in a particular sound. Don't get me wrong, your drum samples are the best I've ever heard, but I think you have plenty of modeling parameters. I just need something that is easier and quicker to work with as I lay out and tweak the sections of a song.

My wish list:
1. a transit shaper
2. brushes, mallets, stick clicks and finger snaps
4. I wish the EQ high pass and low pass had a db/Oct function
5. The ability to rename buses
6. CC controllable cymbal swells (like this product: https://www.wavesfactory.com/suspended-cymbals/)

More of a comment, but MODO DRUM seems really quiet to me. For example, I have to use a compressor with a lot of make-up gain to get it to suitable volumes. Does anyone know why this might be?

My wish list:
- 'Esc' button to close the currently edited page.
- A metronome
- 3-zone ride
- Brushes, rods, mallets
- Better dynamics on the lower side (softer attack sound)
- Option for an own default preset
- Option to save the tom sizes independently (even after unchecking the 'Tom Group Editing' option and saving a custom preset, if I load that preset the tom sizes are still related and differ from the one I set before save)
- Option to set any tom to any size (e.g. 12" Tom2 & 18" Floor Tom1, if I want to)
- Option to set any drum anywhere (e.g. Kick to the place of Floor Tom, cowbell to the place of a KIck, etc.)

For us jazz folks: brushes!!!

With the option for strikes, sweeps with initial strike and (continues) sweeps without initial strike on snare, toms and cymbals.

Great stuff but a few things...

Greater tuning ranges. Since this is modeled should be able to drop all snares down to at least E.

Too much snare wires in all models. Even with only top mic and dampened still get a lot of buzz. So ability to lower the levels of these wires including a wires off option.

Rototoms, octobans and other assorted percussion like the gong pictured.

Assorted microphone IRs to mimic vintage drums as well as allow for new ideas. (So not just IRs for the room but all mics).

Oh and the room mic IRs should be modifiable to drastically increase the usability of each room

Here are is my Christmas list for Modo Drums beyond 1.1:

GUI and workflow updates
- Clicking the drum/pedal in customize/play style should trigger preview
- Selecting a new kit piece should trigger a preview
- Ability to change room in the mixer view
- Being able to move to next/previous drum on the customize screen
- Quick controls for all drums when selected (like on cymbals)
- Clicking a groove on the bottom player should open preset list
- Edit controls for cymbals could always visible (to the left/right) when selected
- Edit dialog for rooms (decay time, lo/hi cut)
- One slot for loading a user room IR

EFFECTS/MIXER:
- Transient designer
- Saturation / tape
- Mix control on compressors/distortion
- Steepness for the LC/HC filters

SOUND
- Snares off
- Rods and brushes
- Ability to layer samples, or create separate assignable drum pads (ex "octapad")
- Edit controls for percussion (or maybe I sound´t find them)
- More tambourine sounds
- Tune control for the snare bottom head
- Open front head for the kick drum
- Change of material for drums
- More zones/articulation for the ride cymbal (hi/mid/lo bow)
- Thickness of sticks (by the way, many drummers use the back end of the stick for rims)

PRESETS
- Most presets are far to wet/processed, and requires a lot of editing to be playable
- Tambourine grooves (shaken patterns)
- Humanize function for patterns, they are far too robotic
