Electric bass in iLoud on Garage Band: doesn't work.

Postby Maurizio P » Sun Apr 28, 2019 7:37 pm

Hi everyone,
I have a problem:

I try to use iLoud as a small speaker for play bass inside Garage Band, but doesn't work. :(
I connected my bass with a (working) cable to iLoud and then connected iLoud to my Mac via an audio cable + bluetooth.

When i'm on Garage Band i create a new audio track...

I use Garage Band on a MacBook Pro with macOS High Sierra 10.13.6.

It seems a very simple thing but absolutely nothing works. Some one can help me or there is a tutorial somewhere?

Thank you
M

Hi Maurizio P and welcome to the forum.

I don't have this product myself so have no first-hand experience of it, but have you made sure that the Mac input that the iLoud is connected to has been selected as the input for the new audio track?

Can you 'see' the input coming into GarageBand but you just can't hear it?

Hi,
Thank you for the reply.

Sadly i can't find some input for iLoud into GarageBand (no iLoud or similar selection options).

I tried with my iPhone and works but IMHO the "AmpliTube" app is not fantastic...

This, at least, proves that the iLoud works so it's just getting it to work in your Mac...

I don't use GarageBand here, but this is taken from the online guide from Apple about setting the input source https://help.apple.com/garageband/mac/1 ... nd4c2cc43e:

"Select the track you want to use, then click the Smart Controls button in the control bar.

In the Recording Settings area, click the Input button to switch between a stereo input channel pair and a mono input channel, then choose the source from the Input pop-up menu."

I'm guessing you're going from the iLoud to the Mac via 3.5mm jack. So, the input is probably called 'Built-in Input' depending on the age of your Mac.

Hope that helps.

Thank you again but that's exactly what I do and doesn't work.
I'm afraid it's something about drivers or things that are too technical for me ...

I'd better buy a small USB audio interface

It would only be something to do with drivers if you were connecting with a USB/Lightning/Thunderbolt. In your case, you're not.

However, before you spend money, you should open a ticket with official IK Support who will be able to give you some one-to-one support. If this is something that the iLoud is supposed to do then they will be able to guide you. https://www.ikmultimedia.com/contact-support/mi/

Hi!
Have you fixed your problem?
I am having the same issue but with a guitar, not a bass. I cannot select iAudio as a sound input device because I don't have it as an option.

I've sent the description problem to IK, but I have no answer yet.

Can you hepl me, please... if you have any solution?

Thanks!!!!
