Re amping old guitar tracks

Postby ecoulombe@gmail.com » Sun Dec 12, 2021 5:19 pm

Hello,

I am remixing some old songs with guitars recorded from a Line POD 2.0. Their is no dry guitar tracks available. Any advice on how to approach this? Soo far what i am trying is not sounding too good.

I tried T-Rack, Mixbox and Amplitube 5.

If anybody is interested here's what i ended up doing. I dit a lot of experimentation but in the end i was pretty satisfied.

1 - I used AmpliTube 5, selecting the same amp sim that i used on the Pod 2.0 (Soldano SLO, Jcm 800 ). I set both amps with the cleanest tone they could produce,
2 - The guitars track had reverb, what i did to get rid of as much as possible of it is to use Amplitube noise gate with the tightest setting possible.
3 - The key to it all was trying every cab at my disposal to find the right one. Then tweak the mike placement.

I hope this can help somebody.
