Suggestions for bass 25 pedal board for B3-X software?

Postby danwat1234 » Wed Aug 05, 2020 10:22 pm

Do most of you running the Hammond B3-X emulation software have a pedal board to complete the experience or do without? (With expression pedal capability!) I wonder what brand and boards are most compatible for this? I've heard the ones from Hammond themselves are proprietary.

I plan on using a single Yamaha 88-note DGX-650 keyboard. Use for upper manual and 27 keys of lower manual if I've done my math correctly.
Thank you

Cheapest is JG3 24 note pedal board (Made in USA) now available on Amazon. (only 24 note and not 25 probably because of Hammond has 25 note pedalboard patent?)
I ordered one directly from Hammond Organist Jared Gold and he shipped it to Australia for me.
Initial batch had bad reputation but after totally redesigned MPU board and Control board were implemented has been very reliable.
Also has port for expression pedal.

https://www.jg3tech.com/24-note-midi-bass-pedals ---- Cool thank you. And compatible expression pedal? Would drill holes to mount onto pedal board?Looks like a good buy and I will assume B3-X can adapt to 24 pedals instead of usual 25.

Total open to other recommendations from people too.

Edit: is it true, the Hammond brand pedal boards are proprietary?

Best is Yamaha FC7. I bought one new and one second hand (1/2 price).
I had bought a Korg EX-2 and it wasn't compatible - had to sell it at a loss to a Korg user.

I am using a Yamaha FC7 expression pedal connected to a JG3 Tech 24-pedal board and it connects fine to the B-3X software but the oscillation of volume is almost nonexistent until the pedal is almost fully down. Do you have any tips on how to make it more linear? I assume with the actual B-3 it was close to linear. thanks

Oh, also i notice as the pedal is activated, the software pulls out the highest drawbar for the top manual and pulls it back in when i let off. Strange i'm sure there's a reason!

You may need to increase the Master volume first. Click on the Speaker icon on the Main B-3X screen and drag slider more to the right. If it is still too soft increase the volume of the computer sound card/device.

Also make sure there is no conflict of MIDI change control Assignments.
I always made sure that I use the following defaults.

1 Leslie Speed (Fast/Slow)(modulation wheel *
7 Master Volume (volume) *
11 Expression Pedal/ Swell (expression) *

Thank you, CC 20 i had it set for, which that drawbar was also configured for.
Changed to CC 8, doesn't seem to be interfering with anything else. However the pedal actuation is still not linear. https://photos.app.goo.gl/H65YXWJgxBpGJ9SC9

Is there another configuration window to change position sensor vs virtual pedal, or a text file to edit?
