New versions of plugins not backward compatible?

Postby rip.rowan » Tue Aug 11, 2020 9:20 am

I'm opening some older sessions on a computer with new software, and all of my T-Racks plugins are flagged as "missing" (using ProTools).

For example, if I had TRacks CS White 2A on a track, it is unavailable, because my computer has TR5 White 2A installed. So all my old mixes are borked.

Why aren't new plugins backward compatible :(. is there some way to workaround this? I have projects with scads of TRacks plugs that have to be entirely reworked now :(

Hello rip.rowan and welcome to the forums.

Each 'whole' iteration of IKM's software, such as TR4 to TR5 or ST3 to ST4, are separate versions of the software and do not overwrite previous versions. They reside alongside older versions so that there are no incompatibility issues with user's old projects.

You can install versions of the software that you have previously used by going to your User Area and downloading/reinstalling them.

Hope that helps.

Sorry, it doesn't help whatsoever, because the previous version is not compatible with current versions of MacOS.

I discovered a workaround to my problem. I'm leaving it here in case it helps others.

I was able to install the previous version of TRacks CS 4 on Catalina by following the easy instructions here.

Note: this tutorial will disable certain security features of your MacOS.
