Lighnting to USB-C with older iRig Pro Duo

I would like to connect my old iRig Pro Duo with a newer iPad (having only an USB-C-port).
Is it possible to use the older lighnting-cable from IK Multimedia and use the Apple-Lightning to USB-C adapter? - Or do I have to buy the special IK Multimedia cable (to USB C being part of the newer iRig Pro Duo I/O)?
