Percussion Mapping

Postby kerrymoffit » Sat Jul 22, 2023 7:36 pm

Good day all....

I have an older iRig Keys 37 that doesn't seem to follow the proper MIDI percussion mapping (drum set) e.g., middle C is snare drum, F below it is bass drum. Currently, my bass drum sounds when I use the E key above middle C, closed hi-hat is F# below middle C, and snare drum seems to be either C# or D an octave above middle C.

I'll allow that I'm not a highly skilled MIDI user ( :( ) and primarily use the keyboard to enter notes into the Finale music composition/arranging software. However, I'd really like to begin using it to enter notes for drum set parts. I've researched MIDI key mapping but truly don't seem to understand the key numbers and their proper mapping.

Is there a way to reset or set the keyboard 1/2 step higher for percussion mapping only? Every other note plays/enters into Finale properly.

Thanks in advance for your tolerance and assistance!
