iRig 2 connecting to MBP only hearing buzzing sound

I've connected my bass to my irig2, then connected it to my MBP (M1 chip running Ventura) headphone jack. my headphones are connected to the headphone port on the Irig2.

When I fire up amplitude5 and select "External headphone device" I only hear buzzing sound coming from my headphones. The volume of the buzzing goes up and down as I turn the volume on my guitar up and down (on the guitar itself).

I've swapped out guitar cables already.

I don't hear buzzing from my headphones if they're plugged directly into the MBP's headphone jack. Music sounds fine. Only the guitar via irig gives this buzzing sound.
