Can’t control Apple Music Volume

I’m have some trouble with something very simple. I’m trying to use the irig pro duo to listen to my Apple Music library and play guitar. I can’t lower the volume of the music. The volume slider in Apple Music is unresponsive. It just plays at a fixed volume. If I raise my guitar volume to compensate it clips the inputs.

I’ve been searching for a solution but can’t find anything. Another guy on Reddit was trying to the same thing but with a focusrite interface. He couldn’t figure it out either. The only thing I can think of is to use a second phone and a small mixer.
