Hi Peter, I did open a ticket two weeks ago, #4796506, but I still did not receive an answer from anyone, except the automated info saying I will receive a follow up from a representative.
The constant connection loss makes the product unusable - for each connection loss, I have to turn off and on the keyboard, and quit and reopen the host app because midi connection does not come back. I'm only trying to upgrade firmware to see if it solves this problem.

I see so many people on the same situation, that it seems to be be more a firmware / software issue, than a hardware one.
Thanks

Support responded to me and they stated that the update keeps failing because the firmware is current. They had me review the presets and F06 indicates the firmware is up to date. This is verified in the 1.0.9 release.

I would suggest that you review your presets and if you're having issues, maybe a reinstall of the drivers and other troubleshooting would isolate the issue. It wouldn't necessarily be related to firmware. Otherwise, hopefully support will respond to you shortly.

I went through this as well, and my firmware was 1.0.8 (or 1.0.7, don't have it in front of me).

Problem is also that the Logic Pro driver doesn't work either. It is unresponsive as a surface.

ken.rimple wrote:This happened to me. I just bought mine from Sweetwater and when updating the firmware it failed on 5%, and now it is shown as "iRig Keys 49 DFU (USB Device)" when it is found. I also installed the plugin for Logic and it isn't recognized.

Macbook Air 2020 M1 16GB RAM - also tried with Intel Macbook Pro. Both on Big Sur (the M1 with the attached log is v11.5.2. the Intel Mac is on 11.4).

Note: says the firmware is corrupt or something. I put in a support ticket, but maybe this will get notice here. Any way to rest DFU mode and re-initialize the firmware to the default to try again??

Note: the keyboard is still acting class-compliant and the audio input/output works, as well as the keys and control surfaces, but the firmware update is broken.

Here's how to see if firmware is updated :

In order to check the firmware on your unit, you will need to do as follows:

1- Check the preset though, press the ALT button, then PRESET button. Rotate DATA knob to 'rCL'
2- Rotate DATA knob to see what presets are available
3- What is the latest preset listed? ( if the preset starts with letter 'F' such as F0__ this would indicate that the latest FW is installed and thus why the FW won't install over itself. )

So, I'm assured that I have the latest firmware.
Thank's to IKM Support team

And what version is supposed to be the latest one for the current date? Mine shows F06.

I have this exact problem as well (firmware update fails at 5% and iRig Keys only works as a keyboard). I have already submitted a ticket with support here, but figured I would share my experience and see if any solutions have popped up.

I have tried installing the firmware on 5 different MacBooks (2 Intel and 2 Apple M1 chip) with 4 different version of macOS (10.13 to 12.4) - all with the same result.

I have submitted my logs in my support ticket and also checked the Alt + Preset results (I have F01-F06 available). I am not sure which firmware my iRig Keys has or if the initial update attempt (from a M1 mac with 12.4) somehow corrupted the firmware. I have also installed the IK Product Manager app on my mac, but that only points me to the same downloaders/installers as the web.

Has anyone managed to get the control surface features to work on a modern Mac with GarageBand?

Update: I installed Logic Pro just now and have the same issue. The device is detected, keyboard works but none of the control surface features. Nothing shows up under Control Surfaces - MIDI Controllers in settings. Not sure what I should be looking for in Logic though.

Postby pju75100 » Thu Jun 23, 2022 2:49 pm

Update: I have tested around one more round on my different Macs and concluded the following.

1. Firmware update fail and control surface issues are not connected (duh).

2. The firmware update still fails everywhere. I suspect this is because my device already has the latest version (my presets have F06).

3. The control surface plugin actually works on my older Intel Mac with Big Sur. Just verified with GarageBand, so my previous assumption was wrong. When installing on my newer M1 Macs, the install dialog tells me that the installation was successful, but neither Logic Pro nor GarageBand detect my iRig Keys device as a control surface. I suspect that the driver is not compatible with the M1 chip.

Re: iRig Keys I/O 25 Firmware update failed!

So is this a problem with the M1 Macs? Logic pro doesn't detect my I/O 49 either (I've got a Macbook Air M1 with Monterey). What can I do to make it work as a control surface? I've installed the IK Multimedia plugin but apparently it doesn't work... HELP!! The control surface feature is sooo useful on Logic

PS: I tried updating the firmware via the tool but it fails at 5% like everyone else apparently. So maybe it has already the latest one. Dunno. How can I check which firmware it has?

Tried updating in an old MAC and the error is the same!!
