Stomp I/O AC adapter question

Does anyone know if you use the Stomp's AC adapter, does that take priority over the usb power coming out of my surface pro? I can get about 3 hours of battery from my surface pro if it's powering the stomp, but I know I could get 7 or 8 if the stomp was using it's own AC power.

I have an almost 3 week old open ticket with support concerning this question, but they don't seem to be interested in giving me an answer.

I wasn't even aware that you can power the stomp I/o by usb (I thought it was just the other way around ... the stomp can power an iPad/iPhone)
If this is the case ... why don't you just plug in your surface? You need 1 socket either way.
(Maybe the answer is the loose surface power supply magnetic lock?)
