iRig Blueboard - one SMD component fell out

Postby gita_rzysta » Sat May 23, 2020 12:10 pm

Hello

I have just bought a brand new iRig Blueboard. After unboxing I noticed clear rattling noise, as if something was loose inside. Upon opening battery compartment a small SMD resistor fell out.

Now, all seem to work, but having some experience with electronics I can tell not always a missing component must lead to an inoperational unit. Sometimes not immediately. Sometimes only under some circumstances.

Not sure if that resistor got unsoldered, or was just an "extra", irrelevant, loose part inside.

Anyway there is some anxiety. The store had the last unit, I can't ask for exchange. On top of this a warranty claim is also not justified.

I wonder if there's anything I can do, if someone experienced anything like this before.

For now I'll keep watching the unit and test it as much as possible while still under warranty coverage.

Strange, right? Kind of catch 22
