Stomp IO and external switches

Postby darcyboyer » Mon Apr 29, 2019 5:55 pm

I have an unused Peavey Multipurpose 2-button foot switch in my parts bin. It has a single TRS 1/4' plug on it. Is it possible to modify the peal or add some kind of splitter cable to get it work as external switches with the Stomp IO?

If not what might be some other alternative?

It should be ... stereo to 2 mono 1⁄4' plugs, to ext1 and ext2
Not sure how is going to behave if its unlatch or not,
it should send 0 or 127, open/close
I'm planing to try that
I'll report back when I get my hands on one of those (probably not Peavey)

Interesting.

Should the external switch be latching or non-latching?

In section 7 of the manual it mentions sustain pedal 1 and 2 as being momentary action so I am assuming those inputs are expecting non-latching. I'll pick up a splitter as well and see how it does.

I'm thinking The rest of the STOMP switches are non latching, so I'm with you there ..
But it might also work the other way round too, as in "hold the Tuner up" ? , who knows
It depends on the controller and the software side

As an example in PRESET mode the STOMP sends 1 program-change when depressing (release)
But in STOMP alternates 0 and 127 on every press
And then pressing and holding #4 send C41 127 (tempo, ready to learn tempo) then sends SysEx every 2 steps, probably the tempo value

I guess I'll find out when I plug something and see what is sending from ext1 & ext2 :)
