Pro Duo with new iPad Pro USB-C

Postby maurice2 » Fri Jan 18, 2019 8:04 am

I have a Pro Duo and am getting a new iPad Pro.

I see the USB-C to Mini-DIN cable is now available for sale. Will this solve my connectivity needs for iPad Pro and Duo?

Is this the best/only way to go?

Any other differences/issues I should be aware of?

Cheers

Hello,

Thanks for your post.

The USB-C to Mini-DIN cable can be used with the iRig Pro Duo and the latest iPad Pro 2018 (USB-C). Another option is an OTG compatible USB-C adapter.

Thanks. I ordered a USB-c to USB 3(A connector) so I’ll try that.

I figured that adapter would be a bit more multifunctional and it’s cost $8.
Will follow up on my success when my adapter is delivered.

If I got a USB-c hub could I also charge the iPad while using the Pro Duo?

Cheers

Technically, yes, this should work. We have tested the following adapter and this seemed to work well. We are looking into other solutions as well, so be sure to stay tuned to the IK Multimedia news letter.

Short follow up.

I had great success with the Anker USB-C to USB A adapter. I bought the earlier model which is a few inches long. Their newer one is a a simple dongle but I feel the short cable provides better strain relief on the iPad connector.

I plugged it into original Pro Duo USB to Din cable and everything is working great.

Will keep eye out for a good USB-C Hub. Haven’t noticed any news yet from IK.

Ryan, excuse me:
If I use the USB hub with a IRig Pro i/o into an Android, can i use the phantom power without batteries?
