iRig HD 2 micro USB Cable (USB C, too)

Postby lucianoenrico » Tue May 08, 2018 10:05 am

Hello,
I want to get a replacement/better Micro-USB to USB cable for my iRig HD 2. Does any standard cable work or do I need some special cable?

As long as I have a MAcBook pro with USB C ports: does someone knows if a micro-usb to usb C cable will work with iRig HD 2? I will just save an adapter cable.

Thank you
Enrico

Hey Enrico,

Thanks for the post.

The iRig HD 2 will work with the IK USB C to Micro USB cable. This should be listed in the Spare Parts & Accessories section of our web store.

http://www.ikmultimedia.com/shop/

Do note, third party cables or adapters should also work here. These will require OTG support.

Hello,
the "USB-C to Micro-USB cable" in the shop does not mention the OTG specification in its description, while it is mentioned in the Android cables.

As a final clarifications: does the OTG is needed to connect the iRig HD 2 to a MacBook Pro?

Thank you

To clarify, the USB-C to Micro USB cable in the IK Multimedia web store will work with IK Multimedia products like the iRig HD 2. This is fit for OTG use.

*OTG is required is a specification first used in late 2001 that allows USB devices, such as tablets or smartphones, to act as a host, allowing other USB devices, such as USB flash drives, digital cameras, mice or keyboards, to be attached to them.

To read more information on 'OTG' and what it means. Check out the link below.

Thank you Ryan for your reply.

Even if your reply is not a direct one to my question, as fo my understanding:
- as long as OTG is for tablet or smartphones
- as long as i use a macBook Pro, which is not a tablet or a smartphone

I can infer that the result is that OTG is not required in my case.

Can you confirm this?

Ciao

OTG is required for use here. If a cable is not meant for OTG, this may not work properly, as this may be designed for charging or power-transfer only.

I suggest for best results to use the IK Multimedia USB-C to Micro USB cable for this situation. We can assure you this cable will work here.
