which headphone would i use with the axe i/o .

I see those headphones come in several variations based on Ohms.

https://north-america.beyerdynamic.com/dt-770-pro.html

Here is from the [AXE I/O User Manual]:

Code: Select all
Headphones Output

Output impedance: Virtually ideal source (zero Ohms) until clipping
Maximum Output level: +12 dBu into 50 Ohms load (approx 180 mW)
Frequency response: From 3 Hz to 32 kHz within 0.5 dB (96 kHz sample rate)
Dynamic Range: 112 dB(A)
THD+N: -100 dB(A)

Based on the specs, the maximum headphones ouput level is [50 Ohms], so I'd go with the DT 770 PRO [80 Ohms] variant. From their spec page:

For headphones, I use [Sony MDR-7506], which are rated at [63 Ohms] and I don't turn my AXE I/O headphones volume knob more than 1/4 the way up.

thank for your answer,

i i read that headphone impedance must be 8 times the one of the output, that why, i m wondering.

thanks.

would the sound be better with 250 ohms?

I've been recording since the early 1980's and that is the first time I've heard that. Hopefully someone else can give their opinion.

The AXE I/O sounds great with my Sony MDR-7506 headphones, and they are 63 Ohms. The 250 Ohm headphones would be ok as well, but it might take turning up the volume on the AXE I/O.
