Midi Learn

Postby trevoraron13 » Mon Jul 13, 2020 1:53 am

Hi!

I am using Amplitube 4 in Logic Pro X and Ableton

I'm trying to get midi learn to work, unfortunately to no avail. I found this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qz3AFb-LPNo where it says to create a new track with Amplitube as an instrument. However when I did that, I couldn't get my mod wheel to learn (it still seemed to not recognize it!

Similarly, in Ableton Live, I tried getting a seperate midi track that sends midi to the audio track with Amplitube on it, but unfortunately that was also not able to recognize the mod wheel when I tried midi learn!

Anyone know how to get Amplitube to play nice with midi? I want to screw around with wah!

Hi trevoraron13 and welcome to the forums.

Hmm, the video seems to go around the houses a bit but I suspect that is because he wants to automate the wah over a MIDI guitar file. This way is quicker if you've got AT4 on an audio guitar channel:

1) Open AT4 on guitar track and instantiate wah pedal in stomps view.
2) Right click on the wah pedal Assign Automation>Wah>Param 1 (for example)
3) Click and move wah pedal with mouse/track pad
4) Go to menu Logic Pro X>Control Surfaces>Learn Assignment for Param 1
5) Move mod wheel and you should now see the wah pedal move as well.
6) Set automation to Latch on channel, play track and move mod wheel.
7) Set automation to Read and it will playback your automation.

Takes longer to read it than to do it

Not sure how to do this in Ableton, but I suspect it's not too dissimilar.

Hope that helps.
