Stomp Flow

Postby ktofe » Fri Mar 15, 2019 3:39 pm

Hello,

Up to now I thought that within the stomp module the audio signal was going from left to right.

But in real life, with real pedals, it goes from right to left ....

So I search in the manual, but did not find anything about it.

So could you tell me in wich direction flows the audio signal ?

By the way in the insert module, I guess it goes from top to bottom, if you could confirm, I will be happy :D

Thanks

Left to right for stomps, top to bottom for vertical layouts.

Actually, there are little arrows indicating the direction of signal flow between elements within the Module/Rig Selector, though it can seem a little crowded in there at the current fixed GUI size.

sure, for the flow between stomps => amp => cabs no problem, the signal can't go from the cab to the amp !!!

But within the stomp module, IK could write on the wooden floor something to show the signal path, even if it is obvious for 98% of the users ....

Which real life and real pedals are you referring to? I haven't used stomp pedals since the early '90s, but all of the "real" pedals I used (BOSS for example) had an input jack on the left side of the pedal and either a single mono, or double stereo output jack(s) on the right side of the pedal.

Guitar -> IJ[Distortion]OJ -> IJ[Chorus]OJ -> IJ[Delay]OJ -> IJ[Amplifier]

In this traditional setup, the signal flows from left to right.

Boss pedals and other brands have input on the right.

All apologies, sorry I guess it has been a long time since I used stomp pedals. I always recall lining my pedals from left to right, but I never used a lot of them at one time... :oops:

I guess I've been using plugins and emulators (BOSS GT-8 for example) for too many years, which internally have the signal path from left to right.
