How to load Amplitube plugin in Logic Pro X

Postby Ashton.britnoirlondon » Wed Jan 10, 2018 6:13 pm

Just bought and iRig Pro I/O and downloaded Custom Shop (Amplitube) for Macbook.

Anyone know how to load the Amplitube plugin in Logic Pro X? I get audio via the iRig and can use Logic amps etc but can’t seem to find/get Amplitube to work at all.

In all youtube videos I’ve found, I can see AmpliTube on the Audio unit (plugin) list, but can’t see it on mine for some reason :C

Am I missing something?

Thanks!

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Yes, it should be in the AU plugin list under Audio FX>Audio Units>IK Multimedia.

Have you checked that it appears and is checked in Logic’s Plugin Manager? It might be that it didn’t pass the AU validation for some reason.

Also, have you tried to open the software as standalone, just to make sure it has installed and been authorised correctly? Maybe give that a try.

Great thanks!

Checked Logic plugin manager and it was "not yet validated" you were right - Logged in to my account on IK site and found the serial number for Amplitube 4 in My Products and registered it. Seemed to do the trick.

Wow though, the latency is unbearable... It's terrible! Like a a second terrible. Virtually no latency in the standalone app on my tablet and only a little latency on mac. Via logic though as a plugin and it's completely unusable. Such a shame!

Running a 2017 i7 Macbook with 16GB ram - runs everything else flawlessly. So disappointed with the iRig Pro I/O and Amplitube 4 (plugin) right now :(

What do you have the buffer set at in Logic?

Also, if it’s the only thing running, latency should be negligible in standalone as well. Did you try different buffer settings there?

Tried buffer at 34 (lowest) and 64 upwards with nothing else running - really bad latency unfortunately!

Not a good start at all!

That is very strange. Although I’m not using the iRig, my Mac is much older and can get a very playable latency.

How are the rest of your other audio preferences set in Logic ie number of cores, live/playback modes etc?
