Best way to create SampleTank Drum instrument

Postby popw » Thu Sep 02, 2021 9:14 pm

I have a number of samples from an old drum machine of mine, the Alesis HR-16 and 16B. I want to load the samples into SampleTank Editor and create some Drum kit instruments for SampleTank 4.

What's the best way to do this? I've watched the video, but it doesn't discuss drum samples. I'm assuming I have to rename the sample WAV files to match the format the editor takes and use something like this General MIDI Drum template as the template which notes go to what:
https://musescore.org/sites/musescore.o ... %20Map.pdf

Or is there a better way? I mean for example, in my samples, there are 7 bass drums, 3 closed hihats etc. So I'm not sure how to organize the samples into different kits (I'm assuming each kit is a different instrument). Or do people usually put each drum into its own instrument? Or do I forget GM altogether and just load the 56 samples I have into 1 big instrument sequentially?

Thanks for you help!
