Uno Synth Editor and Wine on Linux

Postby playinmyblues » Mon Jun 10, 2019 1:39 am

Hi. I am really liking my Uno synth. I have started using the Uno Synth Editor on my iPad and that works well.

Has anybody gotten the Uno Synth Editor to run properly using Wine in Linux? The software appears to install correctly but when I connect my synth to the computer the editor does not recognize the synth.

I know this is not a big concern for most users but it would be very convenient to use it this way. I have other pieces of MIDI gear that have Windows software editors that work using Wine in Linux.

Tried briefly on Xubuntu 64bit 18.10 (or maybe 18.04, can't remember). Seems to work OK, can see Synth and reports changes to dials etc.

Let me know if there's something specific I can check for you.
Simon.

I am using Ubuntu Studio 18.10, I believe.

I have connected using a USB 3.0 hub and straight into a computer USB port. It does not recognize it in the Uno Software Editor.

It is listed when I use lsusb but it does not give a name to the Uno.

Using Traktion 7 for a DAW, it recognizes the UNO as a MIDI interface over USB.

try using the command line to list what MIDI devices are available
Code: Select all
$ aplaymidi -l
 Port    Client name                      Port name
 14:0    Midi Through                     Midi Through Port-0
 20:0    UNO Synth                        UNO Synth MIDI 1

maybe Ubuntu Studio is doing something weird with Alsa and/or Jack.

Here's it working on my system ([Xubuntu 18.04 LTS _Bionic Beaver_ - Release amd64 (20180426)]), if you needed proof. :D
