iLoud Micro hums with TRS 1/8" and Casio piano

Postby giacomoardesi » Fri Oct 07, 2022 9:38 am

Hi there!
I just purchased a pair of iLoud Micros and love them!
I use them connected to a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 with no issues at all, but when I connect my Casio CT-S1 via the TRS 1/8" stereo input the speakers hum loudly...tried with 3 different cables...no issues using the included TRS 1/8" to RCAs cable. Could it be related to the keyboard output?

thanks anyone!

Hi,

This sounds like a ground loop. I can recommend you 2 possible workarounds (without 100% chanc e of success, as a ground loop can have several sources). You can either buy a ground loop isolator to put between your Piano and the speakers or you can buy a grounded power supply. You can find one with 24v and more than 3A with a ground plug and use it to power the Micro Monitors. There are big chances that one of these solutions will get you there.

Cheers.
