Use my Sterling Musicman bass in Modobass

Postby AlfredWallace2022 » Sat Jan 06, 2024 4:38 am

Hello everyone, I use Modobass, from my Total Studio Max software in my iMac, with Logic Pro.
I have a UR22 mkII audio interface. I have a Sterling Musicman bass. I was wondering if I could use my Musicman bass with Modobass? Instead of using my Roland keyboard, I would use my real bass, with Modobass. Is this possible, and if so, how do I go about it?
Many thanks

MODO BASS is triggered using MIDI (notes and various commands) so you'd need to convert the audio (notes) from your real bass to MIDI if you wanted to trigger MODO BASS using your bass. This is not likely going to be a realtime process so you'd have ot use a tool (in your DAW, likely) to convert audio to MIDI. Results will most definitely vary using a method like this.

You would need to either use an external tool or the functionality in your DAW (most will do this, I believe). You cannot do this directly inside MODO BASS.

Thanks again.
And what Logic Pro feature should I use, and how do I do it, in Logic Pro?

Sorry I am not a Logic Pro user, hopefully someone can chime in. I did find this but I'm not sure it is 100% current: https://support.apple.com/guide/logicpr ... fd1b83/mac
