AmpliTube now available on Google Play

The first professional guitar processing app for Android is now available for download on the Google Play Store. AmpliTube and the iRig HD-A digital interface are now available for the latest Samsung devices running Samsung Professional Audio, like the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge, as well as the Galaxy S5 running on the new Android 5 Lollipop OS update. Now Samsung users can connect their guitar or bass to their Android device and play with the sound of the most sought after amplifiers and effects from their smartphone, anytime and everywhere!

Guitar tone on a smartphone
AmpliTube is the most popular multi-effects app for mobile guitarists and bass players. It simulates the full amplification and effects chain used by musicians to perform both live and in the studio. The new AmpliTube app for Samsung Professional Audio sports a full guitar rig made of up to 3 stompbox effects, an amplifier, a speaker cabinet and a microphone.

It comes with up to 11 stompbox effects, 5 amplifiers with 5 cabinets and 2 microphones. This lets players emulate virtually any guitar tone, from clean to crunch to metal and everything in between - the entire sonic palette is covered, satisfying the needs of even the most demanding musicians. The app also offers 15 easy to save and recall presets and a digital tuner. It has everything that's needed for guitarists and bass players to play, practice or perform with their new Samsung devices.

Plug and play
And now Samsung users can connect their guitar or bass to their smartphone with the new iRig HD-A. It's the first digital guitar interface for Android that allows plug-and-play connectivity and the highest possible sound quality. Featuring a high-definition 24-bit/48kHz A/D converter, it offers a direct high-impedance input for guitars or other instruments and a direct connection to the device via the included OTG cable (an additional USB cable is also available for use with PC).

The input signal can be regulated using the onboard gain potentiometer, while a multicolor LED displays the optimal signal level. The processed sound can be monitored from the regular mini jack output of the device through headphones or speakers.

Along with the iRig HD-A, users can also choose from IK's range of analog interfaces, like the iRig guitar interface adapter or the iRig Stomp pedal interface. Both use the mini jack for the input/output connection with the device. Now mobile guitarists and bass players have many options that suit a wide variety of needs, applications and budgets.

Real time audio processing on Android
Previously not possible on Android devices, the AmpliTube app is now available thanks to the new Samsung Professional Audio system. Available on the new Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge - plus the S5 running on the new Android 5 Lollipop OS update - this system allows users to process audio in real time without perceptible latency. Now Android can support AmpliTube, which means musicians can enjoy real time effects and instrument processing anytime and everywhere.

Pricing and availability
The new AmpliTube app for Android/Samsung Professional Audio is available through the Google Play and Samsung Apps stores for only $19.99/€17.99. A free version is also available.

The new iRig HD-A digital guitar interface is now available through the IK Online Store and select music and consumer electronics retailers for $99.99/€79.99. The iRig guitar interface adapter is available for $39.99/€29.99 and the iRig Stomp guitar pedal interface is available for $69.99/€44.99 (excluding taxes).

Can anyone confirm that buying the bundle pack within the free Amlpitube LE on the Note 4 at £6.99, will give the same level of amps & stompboxes as buying the 'full' version of Amplitube at £13.99?

If so, do you also get a serial number to register the Distortion stomp box?

I've got the iRig HD-A, but wanted to make sure I'm not paying double if I opt for the 'full' version.

Cheers - DP

You would need to register using your IK account within the app for the distortion pedal, and the full pack will give you the same gear but will not change the icon or name of the app (to some, this is important).

Thanks for the info. Does this mean I'll get a product serial number when buying the bundle pack within LE then, as this is required when trying to access the Distortion pedal in addition to my IK username and password?

I can live with the LE icon for half the price I think - the iRig HD-A cost me enough without spending double for the full version just change an icon.

Thanks again.

Any serial number would be for an accessory like iRig HD-A, there are no serial numbers for apps or gear on mobile platforms.

Fair enough - just going on what the LE app comes up with when selecting the Distortion stomp button and asks for registration details AND a serial number. So I assume that means a purchase of the bundle pack in LE will automatically unlock Distortion as I'll be logged into my IK account.

Just asking the question for the benefit of other users too, as it's not particularly clear.

You only need to put in your IK account information, it is a one-stop shop of an entry form.

does that mean that Google finally fixed the low latency sound for Lollipop? (the press-release mentioned Motorola, HTC et al. which don't come with Samsung Professional Audio AFAIK)

This press release mentions only devices supporting Samsung Professional Audio. The announcement and what we will show at NAMM 2015 is for near-zero latency on devices other than those, and will support Android 4.0 and up.

I do not see any information about whether that device supports Samsung Professional Audio. If it does it would be compatible, you may want to contact your provider or Samsung for more details specs on the device.

I think it's almost unbelievable that there's a total lack of support for the nexus line (Nexus 5, Nexus 7 first, than Nexus 4, samsung galaxy nexus). You're missing the userbase

Samsung Professional Audio support is the only way to get proper low latency audio on Android devices until iRig UA is released. Please check it out at http://www.irigua.com
