The Middle of Yesterday (Gondo)

Postby CrazySchmidt » Sun May 30, 2021 6:04 am

Hey guys, this is one that I had previously posted but took down after being dissatisfied with the vocal effort after listening to it a few times.

I have redone the vocals (the parts that pissed me off at least), remixed and and now am happy to share again as it should have been with the initial release.

This is released under the "Gondo" project, my buddy "Fatboy Dazza" wrote the lyrics (I really suck with lyrics).

Guitar Work:-
Amplitube OR120 for all main riff guitars and also outro harmonies.
Amplitube Mesa for main solo and outro solo.
Amplitube Brit 9000 Lead for chorus riff ascent.
Real Marshall DSL40C for supporting background rhythm.

Bass Guitar:-
Amplitube AMPEG SVT-4 PRO - "Bright Pick" setting.

I hope you like it.

Cheers, CS. :)

Hey CS,

Glad to give this one another listen…..liked it back then….like ‘er now too. Vox/harmonies are spot on and looks like you extended the song as well, which is great….gives ample time for that guitar lead section and tasteful outro licks/harmonies!

This song has great hooks and nice to hear it as you intended, another super collab with FatBoy Dazza!

Great! This is genuine music!

Love the way the rather in your face guitars interact with the melody, especially when they chill just a bit in the chorus (as an effective contrast), to let the lyrics shine through and evoke emotion. I like the way the vocals sound honest, serious but don't have any of that "too cool
to be true" vibe, we hear so often these days. And obviously the solo is great and so are the guitar ad libs towards the end- some really nifty rhythm/time stuff going on there! And to put
it simply - there's something very organic about this song. Love it! :D

How many people participated in this recording?

Hey Peter, thanks so much for the kind words my friend. :D

To answer the "how many participated" question, my buddy wrote the lyrics because I just suck with those and can ever only get one verse and a chorus done usually before it runs dry, all the instrumentation and vocal is me apart from the drum track of course which is a simple .wav loop.

Keep that beautiful playing coming at us bro, you rock!! 8-) :D

Cheers, CS. :)

Cool, that's a lot of work for one person! :) I feel this definately contributes to the organic nature of your recording in some way... :) There's something about self-producing (with the producer also recording everything) that, when done right, just gives a different vibe than, say, band recordings. :)

You too, CS, keep these songs coming! :)

See you around,

Peter
