TS 3.5 Max Install

Postby auggybendoggy2 » Sat Dec 03, 2022 5:52 pm

It's been a long while since I had to install IK products but as I recall I was very confused. I think I still am to this day.

So I have a few questions before I begin this massive adventure.

1) Can I create a sound content folder on any drive and place sound content in that folder? I remember installing Miro2 and I believe it HAD to be in either the sampletank 3 or sampletank 4 folder.

2) Can sampletank 3 and 4 share the same content folder? Will there be conflict?

3) Since I own ST4 max, do I even need to install ST3?

3.5) Will Sampletron be installed into it's own content folder or does it have to be in a Sampletank folder? (and yes question 3.5 was for TSmax lol)

Meanwhile ...

A1: Yes. MP2 could also go anywhere, but for ST3 to access its sounds, the MP2 library had to go into the ST3 Library. ST4 supports multiple sound content paths, so that constraint is removed.

A2 There is probably no conflict, but I would keep them separate.

A3 I do not think that you would need to install the ST3 software, but you may not get its effects presets, arpeggios etc. You will need to Register/Authorize its Serial Number.

A3.5 Install the SampleTron 2 library to its own folder.

You would end up with something like:
Code: Select all
X:/IK Multimedia/Miroslav Philharmonk 2/...
X:/IK Multimedia/SampleTank 3/...
X:/IK Multimedia/SampleTank 4/...
X:/IK Multimedia/SampleTron 2/...
X:/IK Multimedia/Syntronik 2/...

For each product, install the software first, then run the stand-alone program, set the desired destination folder in its Preference Settings. When the IKPM runs the sound installer it should then pick up that folder path automatically.

Well I tried to authorize Max3.5 using the authorization manager and it didn't work.

I'm guessing IK's stopped doing this. I believe if you buy Max, they simply issue you a new serial numbers for all the included products individually.

Spoke too soon, after about 3-4 mins of doing nothing it started authorizing each product. Cool, easy way to do it all!
