AmpliTube for iOS no longer supported?

Postby jimiscandal » Sun Nov 06, 2022 7:26 pm

Is AmpliTube for iOS no longer supported? It’s been over 3 months since last software update, and the app is now no longer working with iOS 16.

Tuner does not work
Track playback at the wrong speed and with distortion & crackle
Distortion crackling and harmonic overtones when guitar signal is input.

Very disappointing for customers that have made in app purchases, also the in App Store is still functional. So customers are able to purchase in app that isn’t working and hasn’t since iOS 16 was introduced.

No update from IK as to if and when an update will be coming.

Not looking good. Anyone have any idea, or come up with a fix?

Thanks Peter, I have contacted customer support twice now over the same issues.
Not had any indication of if and when a new patch is coming, or a workaround for the issue. Only that it’s a known issue with iOS16, [mod redacted - please review the rules]

There's no reason to warn anybody. You must report issues to IK support and they will recreate and send to the devs or fix your issue directly if it is not global. If you need an update/status, you can reply to your ticket and they will provide the information you request. Thank you.

Réponses a vos problèmes...

Thanks for your patience while we got back to you.

We are aware of some behavioral issues with the latest IOS and various audio apps, not just our own. Our teams are working diligently to resolve these behaviors.

When the update is available, we will make an announcement regarding AmpliTube CS for IOS/iPadOS.

Bonne chance

As this upgrade issue is well known, I kept my iPad on a very old iOS 14 version, for fear of this kind of failure. Note that my iPad is used ONLY for the Stomp I/O interface and some drawings.
However, I think it would be nice for customers to seriously consider upgrading AmpliTube in a more systematic way.

Hi Nidge1962,
I don't think downgrading to a lower version of iOS is even possible (for that, an answer could eventualy be found on an Apple forum).
The problem, with these frequent iOS upgrades, is that the third party devs are often quite slow to react, giving a hard time to their customers...

You can no longer downgrade to IOS14 as Apple have stopped signing the older releases. You can just go down to IOS15.

After saying that, I don;t have any issues with IOS 16.3.1 that you are referring to.

Thanks

I use the iRig HD 2 with iPad and with my Macbook and it seems OK for me. I'm pretty much a novice user though with this technology but was (but no longer am) an Apple IOS developer.

The reason we stopped doing Apple development was the constant change of IOS and the bugs that Apple kept introducing. We spent so much time just keeping up, it was costing us a fortune in time so we eventually said enough was enough.

I have every sympathy with the IK Multimedia team trying to keep up. What most people do not realise is that 99.99% of developers have zero influence on Apple and that things like API's change frequently and are often deprecated at very little notice. Also contrary to how Apple advertise, it doesn't "just work". Quite often it doesn't "just work" and the dev teams have to work out a fix coz Apple have cocked it up. Our systems used in internal web interface for presenting traffic data and maps, we had hack upon hack to get around the bugs that Apple left in and had no interest in fixing even after a year or more.

Just my 2p worth.

Thanks

Rob

Very bad news, Rob, very very bad!
So this means I naively bought a "beautifull and excellent Stomp I/O" trusting IKMultimedia would keep it up as long as I would play around with it... :( But no, this won't be :o :o
So now what? Leave my actual iPad Pro to the sole fonction of Stomp interface? Look for another "old" iPad mini running on a no-upgraded iOS? Or leave IK because of this guilloting-off Apple users and go searching for another hardware?
This is a very bad news... and I guess I'm not the only very disapointed guy around here!
