Philharmonik - No Instruments

Postby dave158 » Sat Feb 27, 2021 9:49 pm

Hi - I'm really struggling with getting this to work - it's almost certainly my newbieness!

I've installed the newest product manager, downloaded MP and installed that. I've now downloaded the 5 sound library update zip files. Moved these into a directory just above root (to avoid the long file name error), and unzipped the,. Run each installer in the five extracted folders, and they ran OK (but very quickly), and said they were installing to my documents\IK Multimedia directory. All seemed to go OK, but I still see no instruments when loading MP

Any ideas? I'm not convinced that all the sound libraries are there - I can't find anthing relating to brass or percussion for example.

Sorry if this is very basic - I'm a complete beginner.

Hello dave158

I think the issue maybe that you've only installed the updaters, rather than the main sound content itself.

Looking in my Product Manager under the Sounds tab, it shows there should be 17 files of content for MP2. I would check to see if yours says the same and start there. Alternatively, opening a ticket with official IK Support might be an idea as they can give you one-to-one help with your issue as moving files as you have done already may hinder the installation process.

Hi

Thanks for the advice!

I can't see 17 files of sound content in my 'Sounds' tab.

I have a MP2 CE download (8.1Gb, 3 of 3 files remaining) and a single 'Sound Library' v1.0.0 which seems to be one file?

regards

Dave

Ahh, ok

Just to clarify then, which product have you bought - MP2 or MP2CE?

It's the CE version - as a free download with my hardware.

So I guess I'm only entitled to the 8.1Gb sound library (3 files)

Yep, correct. Download and install the 3 file followed by the single Sound Library Update, open up the MP2CE app and it should then build the database and give you access to the instruments.

Thanks

Think I'd better delete the actual programme and start again as have probably corrupted it with the wrong files!

Thanks for the help

Although ....I do seem to have MP2 in my actual 'products' list and it has an 'install' option.

Ok, so what hardware did you buy that gave you MP2CE?

If you haven't actually bought MP2, what other products have you bought recently?

This might give us an idea as to what you actually could be able to install.

I've purchased an Irig HD2. That gave me one free product from a list. I initially went for the Drums pack, but couldn't install that due to having an older PC. So IK replaced it with another of my choice and I just selected Philharmonik. I missed that it was the CE version. I don't seem to have the CE version as a product, but it is there as a 'sound' which is very confusing.

That is very confusing. If you look in your User Area>My Products on the website, does that shed any more light on what you should have access to?

It may be that the IKPM (the IK Product Manager) just lists a generic "Miroslav Philharmonik 2" at the top level. What do you see if you click on the Products tab,? THat may well show MP2 CE.

Your serial number determines which sounds are available. And, indeed, the downloads for those sounds should be in the IKPM Sounds tab.

I don't have a 'products' tab in the Product Manager app, just 'Software' , 'Sounds' and 'Hardware'

MP2 is listed under Software - this has 4 sub tabs (Products, Release Notes, Manuals, Software.) Under Products is listed MP2 CE. Under Software I have 5 downloads for a Sound Library Update.

Under my main 'Sounds' tab is listed MP2 CE with a download deadline of 171 days. This says Download size 8.1Gb (3 of 3 files remaining) . This has two sub-tabs 'Manuals and Software' . Under Software is a single file Sound Library Update version 1.0.0 released 2016-09-16 with no download size.

On the website, I have MP2 CE listed with a serial number - the download button tells me to download the product manager app.

The subtabs here are Serials/License / v2.06 release notes / Past Releases / Download Resources and / Sounds Download

Under Download Resources there is a manual and a single file called Sound Library Update MP2CE_Sound_Update.zip v1.0.0

Under Sounds Download there are 3 files for Mac and 3 for Windows called MP2 CE parts 1-3

This is beyond confusing!

I think this is the definitive answer then

dave158 wrote:Under Products is listed MP2 CE.

and this (AFAIK) is a bit of a curveball!
dave158 wrote:Under Software I have 5 downloads for a Sound Library Update.

I think if you've already installed and authorised the main app, install the 3 sounds files (8.1GB) and the single Sound Library Update version 1.0.0 file and you'll be good to go.

Might still be worth getting in contact with Official IK Support to confirm whether the 5 updaters have left any spurious files on your system that can be deleted to save space.
