Hi Danix78

Hmmm...IMHO....

Pros
*You can run a single instance of SampleTank with various collections of sounds ie MP2, Syntronik and SampleTank as a multi-timbral virtual instrument. Hopefully that saves some computer resources.
*You can layer, for example, a violin part from MP2 and a wacky synth from Syntronik to be played as one instrument
*ST4 is re-sizeable, MP2 is not (currently)
*It's quite tidy ;)

Cons
*You don't get the 'classical' looking GUI from MP2
*Or the nice 3D visual of the convo reverb
*That's about it.

Someone else may jump in with anything I haven't

Thank you garfy,
For the editing of the samples? Or for the effects?
It's the same? Or are there differences?
Thank you!

MP2 itself uses the SampleTank 3 engine and effects.

I would think that the ST4 effects could be improved versions of the ST3 effects, but I have no proof of that other than ST4 is newer than ST3.

I understand that the MP2 instruments in ST4 will use the "ST3-engine" in ST4. But I do not know whether they use the ST4 effects or the ST3 version of those effects (if indeed they exist in ST4). And if you make any edits in ST4 they may not be loadable in MP2 (or ST3).

So:
-- the sounds would use the same engine,
-- the effects may be improved,
-- you get the ST4 interface (which I find awkward to use (and have reported to Support)) and features
